Speech & Drama Classes at St Ursula’s
In 2015 St Ursula’s used The Leinster School of Music & Drama (LSMD) to examine pupils taking Speech & Drama classes.
The LSMD syllabus is aimed at enabling children to practise and achieve a high standard of communication through the speaking and interpretation of poems and stories, reading for an audience, and the presentation of self and work before an examiner.
Twenty-two pupils took part this year – all achieving honours results (in excess of 80%), with many attaining First Class Honours ( 85% or over). LSMD awards medals to candidates who achieve outstanding results (over 95%). Five of this year’s candidates qualified for medals. They are:
Grade 4 Exam (5th Class):
- Eloise Gauthier
- Jessica Goldsmith
Grade 5 Exam (6th class):
- Ciara Brennan
- Leila McGagh
- Rasmitra Shini
Well done to all, and thanks to parents and family members who acted as audience at home when the girls were practising!
Huge thanks to Ms Twomey for the endless time she put in to preparing the girls for their exams.
Red Kettle Theatre Company
Every year, at Christmastime, pupils from First to Sixth Class look forward to the annual performance from the Red Kettle Theatre Company. This takes place in the school hall and is always a really enjoyable event. Lots of children get picked out from the audience to take part in this interactive performance.
